Simeon I was the ruler of Bulgaria from 893 to 927. He was a Christian and he encouraged the translation of Christian texts into Bulgarian. The translations were done by monks in the monasteries and they helped to spread Christianity in Bulgaria. The translations also helped to develop the Bulgarian language and literature.
