Sirimavo Bandaranaike was the first female prime minister of Sri Lanka. She served in this position for three non-consecutive terms: from 1960 to 1965, from 1970 to 1977, and from 1994 to 2000. She was also the first woman to be elected as prime minister of any country in the world.
