Answer
The Lakota family exhumed Sitting Bull's supposed remains for reburial after it was discovered that the remains buried at Fort Yates, North Dakota, were not his. The exhumation was carried out in 2015 with the permission of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the support of the National Park Service. The remains were then reburied at Sitting Bull's original gravesite in Grand River, South Dakota, in a private ceremony.
