Answer
Socrates passed away in 399 BC. He was a Greek philosopher from Athens, considered the father of Western philosophy. Unfortunately, no concrete writings of Socrates have survived. Therefore, most of what is known about his life and teachings comes from the accounts of his students, particularly Plato. Socrates was executed by the state of Athens on charges of impiety and corrupting the youth.
