Duchess Sophie Dorothea of Württemberg, later known as Maria Feodorovna, was a German princess who hailed from the House of Württemberg. Born on October 25, 1759, she was the daughter of Duke Frederick Eugene II of Württemberg and Duchess Friederike Dorothea Sophia. Through her marriage to Emperor Paul I in 1776, she became Empress of Russia and played a significant role in Russian court life until her death in 1828.
