Spiro Agnew was born in Baltimore, Maryland and he attended the University of Baltimore. After serving in the United States Navy, Agnew entered politics and became the governor of Maryland in 1967. He served as the 39th vice president of the United States from 1969 to 1973, under President Richard Nixon. After Agnew resigned as vice president, he moved back to Maryland and spent the remainder of his life there.
