Born in 1973, Stacey Abrams is a prominent American politician and voting rights activist. A member of the Democratic Party, she served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, becoming the first African-American woman to lead either chamber of the Georgia General Assembly. Abrams gained national recognition in 2018 as the Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia, narrowly losing the election to Republican Brian Kemp.
