Ștefan Voitec briefly held the position of Deputy Prime Minister under Petru Groza. He was a member of the Romanian Communist Party and served in the position from 1948 to 1949. During his time as Deputy Prime Minister, Voitec oversaw the nationalization of industry and the collectivization of agriculture. He also played a role in the negotiations that led to the creation of the Romanian People's Republic in 1947.
