Oregon Track Club was the club that Prefontaine was preparing with for the 1976 Olympics. The club was founded in 1962 by Bill Bowerman and Bill Dellinger, and Prefontaine joined the club in 1970. Prefontaine was a member of the club for six years, and during that time he won the NCAA cross country championship twice, the NCAA indoor mile championship twice, and the NCAA outdoor 5,000-meter championship once.
