Thomas Jonathan Jackson, also known as Stonewall Jackson, was born in Clarksburg, Virginia. In 1863, Clarksburg became part of West Virginia. Jackson was a Confederate general in the American Civil War. He was known for his military tactics and his dedication to the Confederacy. Jackson was mortally wounded at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. He died eight days later.
