Su Shi was a famous poet, artist, and politician of the Song dynasty in China. He held a number of political positions, including Minister of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, and Prefect of Hangzhou. His contemporary English equivalent would be a cabinet secretary, or perhaps a member of the House of Lords.
