Black holes are regions of space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot escape. Theory of black holes was developed by Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar in the 1930s. Chandrasekhar was a theoretical physicist who studied the structure and evolution of stars. He showed that there is a limit to the mass of a star that can be supported by its own gravity.
