Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) is a period action film starring Sunny Deol, Amisha Patel, Amrish Puri, Om Puri and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The film is set in 1947 at the time of the partition of India. Deol plays Tara Singh, a Sikh who falls in love with a Hindu girl, played by Patel. The film was a commercial success and was the highest grossing film of the year.
