Argentina and Japan joined Super Rugby in 2016. The new teams were called Jaguares and Sunwolves, respectively. Jaguares are based in Buenos Aires, while Sunwolves are based in Tokyo. Jaguares are the first Argentine team to compete in Super Rugby, while Sunwolves are the first Japanese team to compete in Super Rugby.
