Svante August Arrhenius was born on February 19, 1859, in Uppsala, Sweden. He was a Swedish scientist who is best known for his work on the greenhouse effect. In 1896, he proposed Theory that the Earth's atmosphere traps heat from the sun, causing the planet to warm.
