The Szczecin Lagoon, connected to the Baltic Sea via the Świna strait, is the largest lagoon in the southern Baltic. It spans an area of approximately 903 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 8.5 meters. The Oder River, one of Central Europe's major navigable rivers, discharges into the lagoon via three branches: the East Oder (Odra Wschodnia), West Oder (Odra Zachodnia) and Peene River.
