In 2012, while serving his prison sentence in Tihar Jail, Pranab Mukherjee suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for immediate treatment. The former president of India underwent coronary angioplasty and was successfully revived. Following his recovery, Mukherjee continued to actively participate in political and social discourse until his passing in 2020.
