The British Raj was the governing body of British-controlled India during the colonial period. Syed Ahmad Khan, a prominent Muslim leader and reformer, repeatedly called upon Muslims to serve the British Raj loyally. He believed that cooperation with the British would enable Muslims to secure their interests and progress in the face of growing Hindu nationalism.
