Tabaré Vázquez was the President of Uruguay for two terms, from 2005 to 2010 and from 2015 to 2020. He is a member of the Broad Front coalition and a former leader of the Socialist Party of Uruguay. Vázquez is a medical doctor and oncologist who has been involved in politics since the 1960s. He served as Minister of Health from 1985 to 1987 and was elected President in 2004.
