Tariq Ramadan, a Swiss-born Muslim thinker and public intellectual, held a research fellowship at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan from 2012 to 2013. During his time at Doshisha, Ramadan taught courses on Islam and contemporary issues, and gave public lectures on topics such as the relationship between Islam and the West, and the role of religion in politics.
