Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Bertone, commonly known as Tarcisio Bertone, was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as the Archbishop of Vercelli from 1991 to 1995 and as the Archbishop of Genoa from 1995 to 2002. From 2006 to 2013, he held the position of Cardinal Secretary of State under Pope Benedict XVI. Bertone was known for his conservative views and close relationship with the pope.
