Theodosius I ruled the Roman world from 379 to 395 CE. He was a Christian and his reign marked a period of peace and prosperity for the Roman Empire. After Theodosius' death, the empire was divided between his two sons, Arcadius and Honorius. Arcadius ruled the Eastern Roman Empire and Honorius ruled the Western Roman Empire. The descendants of Theodosius continued to rule the Eastern Roman Empire for centuries.
