Eugene Gant is the autobiographical character in Thomas Wolfe's novels. Gant appears in all four of Wolfe's major novels: Look Homeward, Angel (1929), Of Time and the River (1935), The Web and the Rock (1939), and You Can't Go Home Again (1940). Gant is a complex and flawed character, but he is also a deeply passionate and idealistic man.
