Tigran Sargsyan was the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia from 2004 to 2008, before becoming Prime Minister in 2008. As Chairman of the Central Bank, Sargsyan was responsible for the formulation and implementation of monetary policy, the supervision of banks and other financial institutions, and the issuance of currency. He was also a member of the National Security Council and the Council of Ministers.
