Tokugawa Ieyasu, born Matsudaira Takechiyo, was a daimyo, a powerful feudal lord in feudal Japan. He was a vassal and general of the Oda Clan, led by Oda Nobunaga, a daimyo who unified most of Japan. Ieyasu later succeeded Nobunaga as the leader of the Oda Clan, and eventually established the Tokugawa shogunate, which ruled Japan for over 250 years.
