Tom Hiddleston won the Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in the 2003 production of Cymbeline. He had previously appeared in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of The Real Thing in 2002. In Cymbeline, he played Posthumus Leonatus, a young man who is exiled from his kingdom after being falsely accused of treason. He returns to claim his throne with the help of his lover, Imogen.
