Tom Lantos survived the Holocaust. He was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1928. When he was 13, his family was forced to live in a ghetto. His father died in Auschwitz. Tom was sent to a labor camp, where he was liberated by the Soviets. After the war, he moved to the United States and became a politician. He served in the House of Representatives from 1981 to 2008.
