Totila, also known as Baduila, reigned as King of the Ostrogoths in Italy from 541 to 552 during the Gothic War against the Eastern Roman Empire. He initially served as a military commander under his cousin King Ildibad before launching a successful rebellion against him. Totila proved to be a capable and resourceful leader, leading the Ostrogoths to several victories against the Romans and recapturing much of Italy.
