Answer
Toussaint Louverture did not die in Haiti. He was captured by the French and imprisoned in France, where he died of illness in 1803. His death was a major blow to the Haitian Revolution, which had been led by Louverture. After his death, the revolution continued under the leadership of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, who eventually led Haiti to independence in 1804.
