Trevor Francis was the first English footballer to be transferred for £1 million. He played for Birmingham City before joining Nottingham Forest for a then world record fee in February 1979. He went on to win the European Cup with Forest in 1980 and 1982. Francis was also capped 52 times by England and scored 12 goals.
