The Süper Lig is Turkey's top-level professional association football league. It has been contested since its establishment in 1959. The league was named Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi until 2001, when it was renamed Süper Lig. 75 clubs have competed in the Süper Lig so far, with Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor being the most successful teams, with 22, 28, 22 and 7 Süper Lig titles respectively.
