Marjane Satrapi did not study art in Iran, but instead studied it in France. She was born in Iran and lived there until the age of 14, when she moved to France. She attended the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she studied painting and illustration. She is best known for her graphic novel memoir, Persepolis, which tells the story of her childhood in Iran during the Iranian Revolution.
