Answer
Valentinian I's campaigns crossed the Rhine and Danube rivers. He led a Roman army across the Rhine in 366 to retake the province of Germania Inferior from the Alemanni. In 370, he led another army across the Danube to attack the Quadi and Sarmatians. Valentinian's campaigns were successful in retaking lost territory and subduing the Alemanni and Quadi, but the Sarmatians were not defeated and continued to raid Roman territory.
