Answer
Cataloging in Publication (CIP) is the Library of Congress program for providing cataloging information to publishers in advance of publication. CIP information is printed on the verso of the title page of a book and includes the book's title, author, publisher, publication date, and International Standard Book Number (ISBN). Clapp was a major proponent of CIP and worked to ensure that it was widely adopted by publishers.
