Verner W. Clapp studied undergraduate-level philosophy at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended the college from 1894 to 1897, where he studied under the philosopher George Sylvester Morris. After graduating from Trinity College, Clapp went on to study at the University of Chicago, where he received his doctorate in philosophy in 1902.
