Depeche Mode was Vince Clarke's first band. He co-founded the group in 1980 with Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher. Clarke played keyboards and was a primary songwriter during his tenure. However, he left Depeche Mode in 1981 to form Yazoo (later known as Yaz) with Alison Moyet.
