Which island did Bering sight before his death?

  • Sakhalin

  • Kodiak

  • Kayak

  • Greenland

Answer

The answer, Kayak Island, is named after the sea kayaks used by the Alutiiq people who inhabited the area. Located off the coast of southern Alaska, the island is believed to be the final resting place of Danish explorer Vitus Bering. After his ship sank in 1741, Bering and his crew managed to reach Kayak Island, where he passed away.
