Walter Schellenberg served as an SS general in Nazi Germany and the head of Amt Ausland/Abwehr, the intelligence and counterintelligence agency of the SS. He was one of the key figures in the Third Reich's espionage efforts, and he was involved in many of the major events of the war, including the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and the failed Operation Valkyrie plot to overthrow Adolf Hitler.
