Wanda Wasilewska was a Polish novelist, journalist, politician and communist activist. She was born in Warsaw in 1905 and died in Moscow in 1964. Wasilewska was a member of the Polish Communist Party from 1926 and was elected to the Sejm in 1930. She was arrested by the Polish authorities in 1939 and deported to the Soviet Union.
