Robbie Keane scored his first professional goal for Shelbourne in 1996. Keane joined the club at the age of 16 and made his debut in the 1996 League of Ireland season. He scored his first goal for the club on 19 April 1996, in a 2-1 win over Bohemians. Keane went on to score 19 goals in 26 appearances for Shelbourne before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1998.
