Born in 1901, Whittaker Chambers was an American writer and editor best known for his role in exposing the Soviet espionage ring in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s. He was a former member of the Communist Party USA who later became a vocal anti-communist and testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC).
