Wilhelm Röntgen was a German physicist who discovered X-rays in 1895. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his work on X-rays. Röntgen was born in Lennep, Prussia, on March 27, 1845. He studied physics at the University of Zurich and the University of Würzburg. In 1875, he became a professor of physics at the University of Würzburg.
