Will Rogers was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He was born in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) in 1879 and grew up in a Cherokee community. Rogers was a talented entertainer and became a well-known vaudeville performer, actor, and writer. He was also a political commentator and was known for his witty and insightful observations on American life. Rogers died in a plane crash in 1935.
