Answer
William Buckland is associated with Kirkdale Cave, a limestone cave in the North Yorkshire Moors. In 1821, he excavated the cave and discovered a large collection of animal bones, including the bones of extinct animals such as the woolly rhinoceros and giant hyena. He concluded that the cave was once inhabited by hyenas and that they had eaten the bones of the other animals.
