The 5th Duke of Portland, John Bentinck, was born on 17 September 1800. He was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1807 to 1809. He also held various other cabinet positions throughout his career, including Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary. Bentinck was known for his support of Catholic emancipation and his opposition to the French Revolution. He died on 27 March 1879.
