Mary Wollstonecraft was the first wife of William Godwin, the philosopher and writer who is most famous for his work Political Justice. Wollstonecraft was a radical feminist who wrote A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792. Godwin and Wollstonecraft were married in 1797 and had a daughter, Mary Shelley, who later became the author of Frankenstein. Wollstonecraft died in 1797 after giving birth to her second child.
