William Godwin was born on 3 March 1756 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England. He was an English political philosopher, novelist, and journalist. He is best known for his work Enquiry Concerning Political Justice, which argued that all forms of government were inherently oppressive and that the only just society would be one without government.
