Financial reasons were a major factor in Pentecostal churches withdrawing support from Branham's healing campaigns beginning in 1955. Branham's campaigns were costly to produce, and the churches that sponsored them were often unable to recoup their expenses. In addition, Branham's increasingly controversial teachings and behavior alienated many Pentecostal leaders and congregations. As a result, by the mid-1950s, most Pentecostal churches had ceased to support Branham's ministry.
