William Francis Pogue was born on January 23, 1930 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was a United States Air Force officer and NASA astronaut. He was the pilot of the Apollo 17 Command Module and flew on the final manned Apollo mission to the Moon. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War.
