Answer
MC, or Military Cross, is an award for gallantry presented to officers of the British Army and other Commonwealth forces. Established in 1915 during World War I, the MC is the third-highest award for valor in the British honors system, after the Victoria Cross and the Distinguished Service Order. It is awarded for "an act or acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land."
